New School Year

Where did the summer go? Yesterday, children in Columbia County celebrated the first day of the new school year. For some kids, it meant a brand new school as well.
Two new schools opened in Columbia County yesterday – a fresh start for both teachers and students. Columbia Middle and Evans Elementary schools welcomed children with open arms and sparkling new buildings. According to the Augusta Chronicle, the $20 million two-story building that is now Columbia Middle was described by parent, Cindy Carr, as “absolutely beautiful. They did a good job.” And the new two-story Evans Elementary facility will house 684 students.
