Lake Clean-Up Volunteers Needed

Do you love weekends on the lake? For the next month, you can “give back” to Thurmond Lake and volunteer to help clean it up!
In connection with National Public Lands Day, the Army Corps of Engineers is inviting groups and individuals to pay tribute to their favorite lake and volunteer to pick up litter and debris along the lake and Corps areas from now until September 28, 2013. Islands, shoreline, parks, coves and bridges are all great areas to tidy up.
“This is an excellent opportunity for scouting groups, civic organizations, sports clubs, church groups, businesses, as well as interested families and individuals who care about preserving public lands and waters to keep the lake looking great for future visitors,” said Carl Hatfield, park ranger. “It’s a great way to get involved in the community and support public lands.”
