DeFoor Real Estate News

This year is off to a great start.

Things have picked up toward the end of January and are going at a good pace. We’ve had several homes go under contract recently and have also just listed several new properties. Most of these have been residential listings. On the lake front, there hasn’t been a whole lot of inventory. So if you’re thinking about listing, now would be a good time and we’d love the opportunity to help you in the process.

We’re excited to announce that we have a new agent on board. Amanda Brewer has recently joined our team. She comes to our team from Auben Realty and has a background in sales, catering and in the service industry. We’re excited to have her as a new addition and we know she’s going to be a great asset to our team. If you’d like to read Amanda’s full bio, you can do so here.

If you’re not already following us, we invite you to follow us on Facebook. You’ll find all sorts of information on our page like tips on real estate related topics in our Tuesday Tips blog, our latest listings, details on the lake levels, and of course photos of what our wonderful team is up to. We’re also known to have the occasional giveaway!

We can’t predict the future, but Forbes is going to try. The experts are saying that the pace of sales for the year will be slow to start, but then speed up. They also say that inventory will pick up a bit from 2017. They don’t think it’ll be a lot, but say that the current shortage is unsustainable. Among other experts’ predictions, price growth will slow – but not stop, mortgage rates will stay around 4% and the millennial demand for housing will keep growing.

There are also a few new things we have going on at DeFoor Realty that are in the development stage. We recently purchased 192 acres near the lake in Columbia County. This tract will be developed into small acreage tracts ranging from around 3 to about 25 acres. This beautiful property joins the corps land and is a special tract. In addition, we’ve have purchased 65 acres in McDuffie County that we plan to subdivide into 8 tracts. 6 acres will be the smallest tract. We’re also planning to develop a tract with more boat sheds and RV storage. All of this also helps us to grow personally as we have to learn patience in dealing with government agencies and perseverance in staying the course during the development process. On top of this exciting news, we also have another piece of property that we have been working on that will have 6 lots available in the next month or two. These tracts will be near Appling.

We’re pleased that 2018 is off to a good start and we hope that the housing market continues to move in the right direction. Thank you to all of you who take the time to read our updates. We love that we have been able to stay a family business with close relationships to all of our staff and the people we work with. We owe being a successful real estate firm to those of you who are working with us or have worked with us in the past. We are truly blessed to have these opportunities.
