Balancing the Basin Blog

Thankfully the rain has finally settled down, and we’ve actually had some sunshine the last few days. However, for those with an interest in Thurmond Lake, the status of the lake’s water level is never far from their minds. Luckily, we found just the blog for you.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates a blog, Balancing the Basin, with information specifically regarding the Savannah River Basin. Their goal is to provide “timely, relevant and transparent information and to promote discussion about how we manage lakes Hartwell, Richard B. Russell and J. Strom Thurmond,” according to the blog.
You can sign up for email updates by going to Balancing the Basin and adding your email to the “Subscribe” box on the right. Each time a new post is added, you’ll receive an email. We found the emails particularly useful during the flooding incidents over the last few weeks.
Today’s update reports that Thurmond Lake levels are back to “near full pool,” according to the Corps. You can read about the scheduled releases at Balancing the Basin’s latest post.
